First off – Happy Spring everyone!
Finally, it’s time to ditch those insulated coats and throw on some floral dresses. Personally, I’m very excited about all of the strappy wedges that are in for Spring – will do a post on later – and what goes great with a flirty floral mini and a great pair of shoes better than freshly painted nails to accent. I see all over pinterest and tumblr, images of great nail ideas that would perfectly suit this upcoming season, which any girl could rock! I’m a huge fan of pastel and dark nail colours, so these are some fun ways to mix a bit of both depending on your outfit! Be fun with it and get creative. Also, I’ve included an image of Essie’s lastest collection, which is a great guide to see what colours are in for Spring in terms of polish. Yes, even nail polishes have their own “collections” – and to think you just got the Spring women’s wear trends memorized.
My favourite colours from their Spring collection would be: Navigate Her (Light Green), and To Buy Or Not To Buy (Lavender). Visit essie.com to see the rest of the collection and be sure to look out for them at your local department store.
This adorable trend was sourced out from The Beauty Department, and is a delicate and classy trend, almost reminding me of a Tiffany box. Find the tutorial here. The Beauty Department is great for finding unique nail ideas and other beauty necessities for Spring – they even have a dedicated day to nails, calling their posts “Mani Monday.” The dotted nail trend below was the manicure featured this week.
Tying in the lovely lavender shade above, try this fun tutorial at Pretty Shiny Sparkly (even the name just sounds ideal for nails) – mind you half moon nails can be done in any shade you like, the lavender and gold are the perfect combination of subtle and edginess. Try it here.
This next trend is one that takes more time and effort, but would be a perfect one to attempt during a girls weekend! The swirls can be done with any nail polish colours, just ensure that the colours are contrasting each other enough that the swirls will be noticeable. Hey! Nice Nails provides a simple step by step guide on their website.
Ombre is one of the biggest trends this season. I’ve seen just about everything possible ombre’d – from hair to leggings. Although I recently changed my hair back from being omre’d, that doesn’t stop me from loving this trend on nails. It can be done with matte colours, or even glitter and metallics like the ones used in the tutorial here. It’s simple yet stunning, and would be ideal if you want to try something funky without doing an abstract print.
